Sensory-Friendly Children's Ministry

Every Child
Matters to Jesus
Every child matters to Jesus - and belonging in church should not depend on how easily a child fits in.
The Jars of Clay Mission exists to help UK churches grow in disability- and neurodivergent-inclusive ministry, beginning with children's and youth teams as a doorway to lasting, whole-church change.
We provide biblically-grounded, practical resources that help volunteers serve with confidence, reduce overwhelm, and support families with care and compassion.
When children struggle,
children's ministry teams feel it first

Our Impact
Children's and youth ministry teams often notice first when a child:
-
feels overwhelmed by noise, crowds, or unpredictability
-
struggles to communicate or regulate behaviour
-
needs extra support to take part in church life
***
Leaders want to help.
Volunteers care deeply
Parents long for understanding.
***
Yet many teams feel under-prepared, unsure where to start, or afraid of getting it wrong.
You are not alone - and you are not failing!

Why we begin with children's and youth ministry
Reshaping how the whole church understands belonging, discipleship, and the Body of Christ.
We focus on children's and youth ministry because this is often where inclusion becomes most visible and where church culture quietly begins to change.
It is where:
-
volunteers shape the weekly experience
-
families decide whether church feels safe
-
small adaptations can remove big barriers
When churches learn to welcome disabled and neurodivergent children well, the impact reaches far beyond the children's room.
It reshapes how the whole church understands belonging, discipleship, and the Body of Christ.
Children are not the problem to solve.
They are the invitation God uses to grow us.

The Jars of Clay Mission

A gentle, biblical approach
Our work is shaped by 2 Corinthians 4:6-7
"We have this treasure in jars of clay."
We believe God works powerfully through ordinary, imperfect people who are willing to listen, learn, and take faithful small steps.
Everything we offer is designed to be:
-
biblically rooted
-
emotionally safe
-
practical and realistic
-
free from blame or pressure
We trust God with what we cannot control, and we celebrate what grows along the way.
Begin where you are
-
You do not need to be an expert.
-
You do not need a perfect programme.
-
You do not need to have all the answers.
Start small. Start gently. Start together.
